Tell us a little about your product or service.
We created Caren to inform and provide the best in organic and natural skin care. Many products say "natural" or promote a few organic ingredients but still contain harmful chemicals, such as parabens. Others that were "safe" simply didn't work. We searched the world for the best of the best.
How did you start your company?
My partner and I wanted to let others know about what we had learned from research on skin care. After we found some brands that we liked, we knew that we had to put something together so others could buy them. LegalZoom was a natural choice for incorporating Caren Inc., since I had used them in the past for an LLC.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?We were really passionate about what we had learned about harmful chemicals and felt a need to share we knew with others. The long road to finding natural skin care products that were not only safe but were effective too convinced us that there was a need out there for us to fill.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
Creating a shopping cart website on a dime. We tried hiring someone, but ended up learning what I could and doing it myself. As I always say, either you have the time or you spend the money. In our case, we had to spend the time (almost a year!), because we didn't have the money to pay for someone really good.
How has LegalZoom helped you in starting up your business?
LegalZoom made everything a snap. Again, because we had limited funds to put toward inventory, web design, etc., we certainly didn't want to spend needless money on attorney fees. And the incorporation kit not only set up our C corp, but provided a great deal of forms and tools to help with the learrning curve.
