Tell us a little about your product or service.
Christine Rose Enterprises, LLC represents products and services in the fitness and outdoor recreation industries in a number of ways. With a keen understanding of marketing to the older adult, Christine Rose Enterprises, LLC accepts product demonstrations at trade shows, provides educational content for print and video materials, offers to be the 'face of active aging' for corporations and organizations and serves as sales representatives for active lifestlye products in those industries.
How did you start your company?
I had been consulting on a number of related projects two years prior to the formation of the LLC. With a long time background in fitness and aquatic education and with a speciality of working with older adults, I felt that, as a company, I could reach more people with the positive, active lifestyle message if I took this very important step. What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?I read Yvon Chouinard's book, "Let My People Go Surfing" and realized that I could be successful as a company, treat my employees well and support environmental causes once I moved officially into the business world. He inspired me to start my business because I have a passion for motivating people to lead an active lifestyle and I know that I can be successful if I stay true to who I am, as he has always done. I am have joined Chouinard's 1 % For The Planet program in order to support the environment by donating a portion of the company's revenue to the program. I want to demonstrate that people can enjoy, care for and support the environment by becoming more active by walking, hiking, cycling, swimming, climbing, Nordic Walking and inspiring others to do the same.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
The hurdles in the first quarter have included dealing with the isolation that being in business can create. In that I am in the start-up mode (and without a staff), I am responsible for the business plan, marketing and public relation efforts and communications while still fulfilling the duties of the contractual obligations that I currently have established. I addition, I am dedicated to spending time outdoors, paying attention to healthy eating and volunteering in my personal and professional communities.
How has LegalZoom helped you in starting up your business?
I was thrilled to learn that LegalZoom offered the exact service that I needed (creating an LLC) in order to help me to ramp up my business. I have been working in the health/fitness/wellness education field for 25 + years and 2006 presented itself as the right time and LegalZoom, the right place, for me to expand my reach. Now that I have the LLC in place I am able to move forward with the business side of banking, credit, marketing and preparing to properly handle my business tax situations. Additionally, what really has been first rate is that LegalZoom has incredible follow-through, as far as communicating with me, through each part of the process. Finally, LegalZoom does what it says it's going to do WHEN it says that it's going to do that! I greatly appreciate that basic, yet, sometimes difficult to find work ethic!
