Tell us a little about your product or service.
Our products are designed with one goal in mind - healthy skin. We also believe that our products should be as beautiful to look at as they are good for your skin. We provide everyday necessities such as lotions and soaps, as well as more specialized items, including our exclusive Healing Balm, Baby Soap, and a variety of Whipped Shea Butters.
How did you start your company?
Our company started after a kitchen fire in our home in 1999. Jeannie suffered 3rd degree burns and required multiple surgeries and a lengthy recovery. She started studying natural oils, herbs, and how to use them in the healing process. Her interest grew into a passion for handmade and natural skin care products, which she originally made for herself and her family. Her enthusiasm grew, and soon she started Jeannie's Soaps, which has steadily grown and is now a thriving family business.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?Recovery from 3rd degree burns from a kitchen fire in 1999 inspired Jeannie to learn about the skin, how it functions, and about natural oils and herbs for healing the skin.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
The main startup hurdle was developing a customer base - getting our business known. We invested a lot of time in local craft fairs, visiting businesses, and word of mouth. Now we have an established customer base and it continues to grow by referrals.
