How did you start your company?
As the former Chief Operation Officer of Duke Construction Group, Adam Quinn Pletcher had a mission to streamline operations and increase the number of projects the company could handle. He did the same thing as the Operations, VP for Duke Custom Builders, Ltd. During his tenure revenues more than doubled. It came time for Pletcher to branch out on his own. He sold his position in those companies and founded NeoTek Homes.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?When you are working as a partner in a larger corporation it is often the case that your input is stymied be the other powers that be. Pletcher also found that his partners often expected to earn a bit too much on each profit. Industry average for a builder is 18 - 20% of project costs. With the efficiency of low-overhead of data management, NeoTek Homes is proud to average around 10%.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
The largest hurdle is getting the word out to people that a better alternative was now available for new construction needs. We've started to overcome this with an aggressive online campaign as well as the industry leading referral program. As we work on a much more effective overhead, we can offer an excellent commission to those who refer clients to us.
How has LegalZoom helped you in starting up your business?
LegalZoom is like our legal twin. They've taken a process that many others have bogged down in bureaucracy and have simplified it. This is a godsend to individuals and organizations who are reluctant to incorporate out of fear of the drawn out and complex process. Pletcher has acted as an officer on several boards.
