I was issued a DUI in 1995. Since then, I have not had a beer or any alcoholic drink for sixteen (16) years. I work in different alcohol and drug abuse programs as a participant or sometimes as a facilitator in order to maintain the "one is too many and one hundred is not enough" personal program throughout all this time. On May 14th, after I experienced a couple of deaths in the family, after being unemployed for the last six months and on top of that almost braking my leg,I went through a terrible lapse of judgement and had my first beer after sixteen years, this resulted in a DUI arrest on May 14th. Now the state is trying this one as a second DUI. Is there any type of time limit, since it has been 16 years of the DUI?
