Always get a signed contract clarifying in detail what she "promises". A contract is a legally enforceable agreement between two or more parties with mutual obligations. The remedy at law for breach of contract is "damages" or monetary compensation. Aka if she broke her promises like you say she did, you could have taken her to court and you could have easily received what she owed you. Next time don't take peoples word, always get a contract.
