If the person who may have compromised your invention is still in the process of filing there will not be any open source information to verify that. However if you have already been granted a Provisional or Utility Patent on your invention, you will be able to challenge the patentability of anyone that creates something similar once their invention is made public. This of course would be a form of legal action. There is very little room to do much else without your own protection on the invention.
