Police can search a home if the screen door is shut, not locked, and the wood door is open. (Screen doors don't count as doors unless locked). A broken window is itemized under probable cause (suspect of breaking and entering, domestic violence, etc.) Police can't search particular items, such as Christmas gifts or a locked safe(s) without it being documented on the warrant.
