WHAT’SWITH BRITNEY?
Finally,a star who listens to her parents. After refusing to make her new hubby, KevinFederline, sign a prenuptial agreement, Britney Spears has bowed to pressurefrom her family. At first, Britney refused to force Kevin to sign a pre-nup,stating the couple would never split. But Spears finally listened andpresented Federline with the agreement.
However,it seems the pre-nup is still being negotiated as evidenced by the agreementsigned by both parties with respect to their surprise September 18 nuptials.Spears and Federline were so concerned about the media hype surrounding their scheduledOctober 16 ceremony that they pushed the wedding up a month. They brought in alegal team to draft the agreement regarding the “faux” marriage, indicatingthat each party acknowledged the nature of the ceremony.
Under California divorce law, couples can beforced to split their wealth 50-50 unless a pre-nuptial agreement is signedbefore the wedding. Sources say the pre-nuptial drafted between Spears andFederline stipulates that should the couple split, Federline would be entitledto 300k a year for half the length of the marriage. Spears also will not befinancially responsible for Federline’s two children by another woman.
Seems asthough the real wedding is off until the prenuptial is signed.
