STONE SUES PLASTIC SURGEON
Actress Sharon Stone, unhappy about tabloid rumors that she has had a facelift, has filed suit against plastic surgeon Renato Calabria for defamation and libel. The lawsuit claims that Stone has never had a facelift and that she “prides herself on her acting ability and other talents, but also on her natural physical appearance.” The damages sought by Stone are unspecified.
GARDENER SUES JONES
Talk show host Star Jones Reynolds is being sued by her gardener, who claims The View hostess owes him $7000 for work done on her Manhattan penthouse terrace in preparation for an Architectural Digest shoot. Jones Reynolds has filed a countersuit for money damages claiming “shoddily done work.”
ATTORNEY GETS COMPUTER BACK
Robert Blake’s attorney, Gerald Schwartzbach, has recovered the laptop computer stolen the day before jury selection in Blake’s murder trial. The computer theft delayed the start of the proceeding for two weeks. Opening statements in the murder trial should began last week and will continue through this week.
PRODUCERS SUE OVER REALITY SHOW
The producers of ABC’s Wife Swap RDF Media have filed suit against FOX claiming its show Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy is an illegal rip off. The suit asks for more than $18 million in damages and all “gains, profits and advantages” from the Fox show.
JACKSON’S EX WIFE SEEKS VISITATION
Deborah Rowe, ex wife of singer Michael Jackson, is seeking visitation with their children. Rowe and Jackson married in 1996 after announcing that Rowe was pregnant with Jackson’s child. The couple ended their marriage in 1999 and Rowe gave up all parental rights to the children, Paris (5) and Prince Michael (8), in 2001.
LOPEZ SUED BY EX
Ojani Noa, Jennifer Lopez’s first husband, has sued La Lopez. Noa claims the star “lured” him into working as the manager of her California restaurant and fired him six months later. Unspecified damages are sought.
BRANDO’S ESTATE SUED
The former business manager for Marlon Brando has filed a $3.5 million claim against the estate. The manager alleges that she was sexually harassed by Brando during her employment and that he breached a contract when he removed her as co executor of his will days before his death.
SNOOP DOGG SUES
Rapper Snoop Dogg has filed suit against an unnamed woman and her attorneys claiming they attempted to extort $5 million from him to keep quiet about an alleged assault. Snoop claims he had no involvement in the assault which allegedly took place during one of his performances in 2003.
DIANE LANE REPORTS DOMESTIC BATTERY
Actress Diane Lane reported husband Josh Brolin last week for domestic battery. Brolin was arrested Sunday and later released on $20,000 bail. According to a spokeswoman for the couple they have reconciled.
HARASSMENT LAWSUIT AGAINST “FRIENDS”
A 31 year old former writer’s assistant Amani Lyle has filed a harassment lawsuit against Friends’ producers, three of the show’s writers and Warner Bros. Television Productions. Lyle claims that demeaning remarks were made about blacks, that conversations were filled with sexual comments, and she was fired without cause. Warner Bros. has admitted that sexually charged conversations did take place as part of the creative process. Members of the media have filed amicus briefs in defense of the writing team stating that the free exchange of ideas is essential to the creative process.
CROW TESTIFIES AGAINST STALKER
Singer Sheryl Crow testified last week in the trial of Ambrose Kappos, the man accused of stalking her. If convicted, Kappos could receive up to seven years in prison on a burglary charge and faces up to 90 days for stalking in the fourth degree.
OASIS SINGER TO PAY FINE
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has agreed to pay a $62,500 fine to a Munich hotel in exchange for the dropping of all charges by German prosecutors. Gallagher’s fine was the result of a 2002 hotel brawl that resulted in the injury of a local police officer. Gallagher walked away from the incident with broken teeth.
WILLIS SUES REVOLUTION STUDIOS
Actor Bruce Willis has filed suit against Revolution Studios for injuries allegedly suffered during the filming of Tears of the Sun. Willis claims he suffered mental and physical distress after he was struck in the forehead by a specially detonated pyrotechnics device. The complaint does not seek specific monetary damages.
