Terrence Howard's wife recently filed court documents, alleging he has abused her since they were newlyweds.

According to the documents obtained by TMZ, Michelle Howard claims that her husband constantly beats and threatens to kill her. She said the abuse has occurred since seven days after they were married in January 2010.

In the court documents, Michelle contends that Howard "slugged me across my face and neck," in addition to threatening to throw her off a balcony, TMZ reported. Michelle said that Terrence also has smacked her in the face, chipping her tooth with his wedding ring, has thrown her to the ground in a parking lot and committed verbal abuse.

In response to the charges, the actor filed legal papers against his wife, stating that he never threatened her and that all of her accusations are completely false. He said that she has been threatening to release incriminating material unless he paid her, TMZ reported.

Terrence Howard has appeared in over 70 films, according to IMBD, including "Hustle & Flow," "The Best Man" and "The Perfect Holiday."
