The actress who does the voice for Bart Simpson has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit over the debt acquired by her late fiance, TMZ.com reports.
According to the news provider, the American Safety Casualty Insurance Company (ASCIC) has filed a lawsuit claiming that actress Nancy Cartwright is responsible for the debt of her late fiance, Stephen Brackett, who committed suicide.
The lawsuit claims that Brackett’s construction company was hired to renovate a restaurant in 2008, but that the company only performed a portion of the work before Brackett committed suicide and the company fell apart.
ASCIC says that Brackett was initially issued an insurance policy for the work, and that Cartwright had agreed to cover the costs if anything went wrong. ASCIC claims it was forced to pay more than $260,000 to complete the project, and Cartwright has refused to cover the costs as promised.
The suit also claims that Brackett “diverted contract funds” to the Church of Scientology, in which both he and Cartwright were members.
In the lawsuit, ASCIC is seeking the $260,000 plus additional damages, the news provider said.
