Tareq and Michaele Salahi, socialites who are notorious for gate-crashing the first state dinner thrown by the Obama White House and being featured on the Bravo reality show "Real Housewives of Washington, D.C.," are getting divorced. The 43-year-old Tareq recently filed to begin divorce proceedings on grounds of adultery and abandonment following revelations that 45-year-old Michaele left him for Journey guitarist Neal Schon.
While he is no doubt unhappy about the dissolution of his marriage, Tareq is likely relieved that he and Michaele signed a prenuptial agreement. According to the agreement, posted online by TMZ, the couple waived the right to spousal support in the event of divorce. The agreement also stipulates that if an at-fault divorce filing ends the marriage due to Michaele's actions, she forfeits the right to any jointly-held marital properties.
Pursuant to the prenuptial agreement, Michaele also would have to immediately vacate any property owned by the Salahi Family Partnership in the event of divorce; however, this does not seem to be at issue, because she reportedly already has left the home she shared with Tareq to join Schon on tour with Journey.
Schon wed former Playboy Playmate Ava Fabian two months ago. The 49-year-old Fabian told TMZ she is very upset and unable to speak about the situation with the press at this time.
Other recent celebrity divorces, including those of shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge Clem and rock icon John Mellencamp, also will be governed by prenuptial agreements.
