Wealthy San Diego Couple Fighting For Assets Due to Lack of Prenuptial Agreement

A couple that was once thought to be one of the richest in San Diego, California, reportedly did not sign a written prenuptial agreement and are now fighting over millions of dollars in assets, 10News.com reports.

According to the news provider, investor Charles Brandes is worth $1.5 billion while his ex-wife, Linda, is worth approximately $93 million. Even though the couple divorced in 2004, they are still battling in San Diego County Superior Court, the news source said.

Brandes, the founder of Brandes Investment Partners, reportedly made a number of intelligent investments to accumulate his enormous sum of money.

Both still reportedly live in the Rancho Santa Fe, California area, with Charles' home valued at $35 million while Linda's is valued between $2.8 million and $5.7 million, according to the news source.

Linda Brandes, who is currently receiving $500,000 per month in spousal support, is seeking to boost that number to $750,000 as well as to be given a portion of a $140 million sum her ex-husband received in a stock deal, the news provider said.

Prenuptial agreements help protect one's assets in case of a divorce.
