The business confidence of firms in the UK has fallen to its lowest level since the worst days of the recession, according to a recent survey.

The Business Trends optimism index from the accountants BDO fell from 93.1 in August to 91.6 in September, BBC News reports.

According to BDO, these recent statistics suggest that the UK economy could stop growing early next year and begin to contract between April and June.
