Power of Attorney FAQs

8. How much decision-making authority can I grant through a power of attorney?
Generally, you can grant authority to make any or all of your financial decisions (i.e. banking, accounts, insurance, taxes, real estate). You will be able to choose among specific powers you wish to grant. One important area over which you cannot grant authority is your will. Your attorney-in-fact cannot change it.
