Famed O.J. attorney giving business owners help
Hurricane Katrina dealt a devastating blow to businesses along the Gulf Coast, and now they're scrambling to figure out when, where and how to rebuild.
One famous attorney is providing at least part of the answer to "how."
Robert Shapiro, part of the "Dream Team" that defended O.J. Simpson a decade ago, says the company he founded, LegalZoom.com, is offering free legal incorporation to small business owners in the states hit by Hurricane Katrina.
The offer is also available to anyone wishing to start a business in the region.
"We wanted to do something to help the people who are suffering so terribly," he said in a phone interview last week.
Initially, Shapiro was targeting New Orleans, but after seeing the wide swath of destruction all along the Coast, decided to expand the company's service to anyone in the three-state region. He also has extended the offer to Hurricane Rita victims.
