Our website brings new hope for the millions of Africans and members of the African diaspora, separated by time, history and space. Spurred by the information age, MyAfricanDiaspora.com will serve as the premier news, information and networking presence online.

How did you start your company?
Having professional backgrounds that included skillsets in graphics and programming, we developed the logo and site design and used industry tools to do the web development.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?
The idea for the website began following the owners tracing their African ancestry. There was nowhere to go to connect with people of common African ancestry.

What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
Learning the web development software was the biggest hurdle. We were so passionate about the idea, we wanted to get the site up as quickly as possible. However, it takes time to learn the software.

How has LegalZoom helped you in starting up your business?
Legalzoom took the worry out of forming our LLC. The process was smooth and extremely efficient. We can relax knowing we've filed all the required legal documents. The partnerships with VistaPrint and others also helped alleviate some of the startup costs through discounts and freebies.

MyAfricanDiaspora.com was born out of an intense desire to bridge the gap between peoples of African descent separated by the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. The digital age has provided us with the ability to do this via the use of an interactive technology based news, information and networking website targeting the African Diaspora.
