Tell us a little about your product or service.
Highlight Reel takes home movies and photos and creates beautiful and touching video montages on DVD. We also transfer all types of media to DVD (from BetaMax and film to VHS)
How did you start your company?
I created a montage for my daughter's first birthday and passed it around to friends and family; people couldn't get enough of it! Soon I was getting requests from friends of friends who wanted their own montage or other video service and Highlight Reel was born

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?My daughter. Formerly, I was an Engineer working as a middle manager in a Fortune 500 company. Once I had my little girl, I knew I didn't want to go back to working full time again at something so dissatisfying. Now I work 40 hours a week on nights and weekends, that means I can be a full time Mom as well a business owner. It's Amazing!
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
Which one to choose?? My biggest problem was probably with equipment and software (not the most exciting topic). Video editing is the most graphic intensive work you can do. I bought 5 different computers and softwares before finding one that wouldn't crash on me and would do what I wanted it to! In the mean time I have clients that are waiting for their orders while I am busy trying to learn a new software. But, I always delivered on time, even if I had to stay up half the night or redo something 50 times.
How has LegalZoom helped you in starting up your business?
I hired Legal Zoom to acquire my business license for me. In my mind, that was the first step in actually making Highlight Reel a 'real' (pun intended) business. Once I spent the money, there was no turning back. Since I knew very little about starting a business I was so glad to find a company, backed by so many reputable sources, that would do all the legal work for me at such a low price!
