Tell us a little about your product or service.
Through two books I wrote, one for muscle building (MuscleNOW) and the other focusing on weight loss (Fat Vanish), I have helped clients from all around the world to achieve supplement and drug free results through proper diet and training. I not only offer a complete course that describes all of the necessary diet and training techniques, but also offer lifetime personal training via email, where I personally assist clients in answering questions and tailoring my system to meet their objectives. I also offer fitness products at wholesale prices.
How did you start your company?
In 1997, I found a void in the physical fitness industry, with supplements making false promises, and those seeking to improve their body having few if any sources that were speaking the truth regarding the misleading supplement industry. After many years of experimentation on my own body, where I had to both gain muscle and lose body fat, I produced programs aimed at those who wish to build muscle and/or burn fat naturally, and I decided to use the Internet so I can share my experience with people from all around the world, and hopefully transform many lives in the process.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?Writing always appealed to me, a trait likely inherited from my father, who has always excelled in writing, and I decided that the Internet, at the time in its relative infancy, was a tool that I could use to bring my physical fitness knowledge through the written word to millions around the world, and this inspired me to pursue my business plan.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
All went very smoothly, with the exception of a trademark issue that appeared unexpectedly one day, as I answered the phone and on the other end was a man who claimed to own the name that I was using at that time for my MuscleNOW program! He wanted to negotiate a price for me to use the name for my business, but I thought that a much less expensive method would be to change the name of my book, which I did, to MuscleNOW, and the issue was settled. Had I consulted LegalZoom at the time I started my business, as opposed to waiting several years, I never would have experienced this issue, since the official trademark would have been cleared through the proper channels.
