Matthew Dovel 702-270-4656 president@supportisp.org http://www.supportisp.org Tell us a little about your product or service. Over eighty people a day in the U.S. commit suicide. Over one million people commit suicide in the world each year! Education prevents suicide and this is the purpose of ISP, Inc. How did you start your company? After attempting suicide, I wrote a book about my experience. Next thing I know I'm a suicide prevention expert and for the last nineteen years I have been educating individuals, communities, mental health professionals, leaders, and countries on suicide prevention. To educate the general population, community leaders, social workers, mental health professionals, police, military and world leaders on suicide awareness and its prevention through the internet, classes, workshops and lectures... What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?I'm inspired by God to help others. Practicing philanthropy is truely the only work that brings me happiness. What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame? Funding. Sadly, most do not see the need to support, or to learn about suicide prevention until after they have experienced a lost of a loved one. How has LegalZoom helped you in starting up your business? They were instrumental in filling out the necessary paper work to get incorporated and for filling our nonprofit to the IRS. Very informative materials provided by LegalZoom made the process a breeze. Description To educate the general population, community leaders, social workers, mental health professionals, police, military and world leaders on suicide awareness and its prevention through the internet, classes, workshops and lectures. Provide support to family survivors of a suicide that are unable to afford cleanup costs, counseling, funeral expenses, temporary housing, and other costs that may be associated with the loss of the household breadwinner (not to exceed $10,000.00 per incident). Providing these services is essential to reduce the need for other social services regularly associated with caring for families that maybe displaced due to the loss of a breadwinner, mental health issues that may arise after witnessing the carnage often associated with suicide and to break the chain of suicide. Those that are close to someone that commits suicide are seven times more likely to later on in life attempt a suicide as a way to deal with a difficult life issue. Generally these individuals are not aware of the need to seek professional help when dealing with a tragedy of this magnitude and through this organizations effort the goal is to reduce the national and international suicide rate. |
