Parker Electrical Maintenance provides licensed and insured Residential Electrical installation, maintenance, and repair to New Jersey and Delaware homeowners and property investors.
How did you start your company?
Starting in 2005 as an Electrical Consulting firm, my goal was to assist do- it- yourselfers with their home electrical projects when problems arised. As a former Electrical associate for a major home improvement store, I found that customers would come in not only to buy Electrical products, but also seek expert advice with their Electrical projects- even hands- on assistance at their homes. Since the average home improvement store lacked this service and customers often left frustrated with the lack of professional help from the store associates, I found it beneficial to use my knowledge and experience to not only fill this void to help others, but to also provide an affordable, ethical, and reliable Electrical service.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?I was always a self- starter who loves to help people and do things outside of the norm. In addition, I grew up around positive role models who were business owners, entrepreneurs, and dedicated workers. Seeing the success of these role models inspired me to become an entrepreneur.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
Overall, my start up costs were minimal. I was able to earn capital from assisting customers with their electrical projects and also by performing minor electrical repairs. In addition, since my electrical materials needs were very minimal for the type of work I provided, this cut additional costs and boost my profits to fund my business growth. In turn, this helped me to overcome my startup hurdles, such as: Licensing, insurance, purchasing a company truck, and advertising. Once I earned my Electrical Licenses (in DE and NJ), it made it easier to produce more income to provide more services to help more people. A company truck made it easier to transport tools and materials, and advertising helped me to gain more customers. Everything in life has a process- perseverence is the key to overcoming your start up hurdles.
