Trademark Assignment Recordation
LegalZoom's Trademark Services make it easy and convenient to record a trademark ownership transfer (Assignment of Recordation). The following is a detailed description of our process:
  • Complete our brief online questionnaire.
  • Next, LegalZoom will review your answers
    for completeness and common mistakes before preparing your Assignment of Recordation form. We'll send the completed transfer documents to you by e-mail for your review and approval.
  • After we receive your approval,
    we'll file your documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). We'll also send you an email confirming that we submitted your forms.
  • The USPTO will email you within a couple of weeks,
    after it receives your Assignment of Recordation.
  • The USPTO will review your documents.
    If they approve your filing, they will send you a confirmation by email or mail. If the USPTO has any questions or additional requests, they will send them directly to you through an Office Action letter. You'll have six (6) months to respond to requests from Office Action letters. If six months pass without a response, the USPTO abandons the Assignment of Recordation filing.
