What happens if I'm told in my consultation that my invention is not patentable?

It's often difficult to provide a detailed patentability assessment without incurring significant time and expense, which is why we've created our two-step system. During the initial consultation, your patent professional will provide you with options for how to proceed with protecting your invention. However, if the patent professional believes that your invention is not patentable, you are not obligated to purchase the Patent Filing Package (although you are free to do so and to continue with the application process). You can revise your invention or even take your LegalZoom materials to another patent professional for a second opinion.
