Any piece of property that is moveable, as opposed to land or anything attached to land. For example, cars, jewelry and furniture all fall into the category of personal property. Personal property can be divided into community and separate property.
If specific items of personal property will be given to a named heir, describe the property in as much detail as possible in order to leave no room for doubt. For example, "To my son, John, I leave my stainless steel Timex wristwatch with a white face and black dials."
