Zoomers are uniquely talented and drive so much of the innovation that is the hallmark of LegalZoom. Read on to meet one of these amazing employees.
Kirk’s first foray into the world of ecommerce occurred at the remarkable age of ten. At the height of the Beanie Baby craze of the ‘90s, he designed a website to sell some of the items in his collection. It was the first website he ever built, complete with an order platform. However, at the time, there was no way of processing credit cards online. Anyone interested in purchasing one of his Beanie Babies would have to mail him a check with the promise that he would mail them the item in return. Without any marketing or SEO campaigns, Kirk was able to snag a customer. Though he made a profit on that item, he still had about 300 left in inventory.
From selling Beanie Babies online, Kirk moved on to building computers, and though he really enjoyed coding and assembling machines, his passion grew for product development and management. He initially moved to Los Angeles from Florida by way of Tennessee at Vanderbilt University to pursue career interests in film and tech, but lucky for us, he returned to his calling in ecommerce and product development. He remains a tinkerer and innovator, always looking ahead for the next challenge, the next great thing to build.
When he’s not dabbling in new products or putting ideas into action, Kirk is perfecting his poker game. A skilled card game player, he has participated multiple times in the World Series of Poker Main Event with a best finish of 296 out of 6,494 players.
Kirk loves the LegalZoom mission and the fact that the products he oversees and develops will help a lot of people. As Director of Product Management, Kirk is responsible for LegalZoom’s line of Estate Plan products. In the two years that he’s been a Zoomer, he’s managed several major launches including the introduction of the Estate Plan Bundle and Professional Printing. He also worked closely on the development of the new LegalZoom Estate Planning App. He’s excited about the road ahead for our Estate Plan product line and has great new developments in store.
