Handwritten Wills

Handwritten Wills

In some states, you can hand write your own will, without any witnesses, and it will be held valid. This is called a holographic will. As a general rule, it must be completely written in your own handwriting, dated and signed, and it must clearly express your intention to make it your will.

Since there is a greater chance it may be held invalid for some reason, a holographic will should only be used if you are in an emergency situation and are unable to find anyone to sign as witnesses.
