Converting an Existing Business

Converting an Existing Business

Because of the benefits afforded by LLCs, many sole proprietorships and general partnerships choose to change their business structure to an LLC. Other business structures permit this change, but the process to do so is more complex.

By converting a business, rather than forming a new one, you may be able to save some time and expense because you may be able to keep your same employer identification number, state tax number, and other types of business information.
