notice of allowance

A notice issued by the USPTO in response to an intent-to-use application once all steps of the application process are completed except for the applicant proving use of the trademark in commerce. After the Notice of Allowance is issued, the applicant has six months to file a Statement of Use (see definition) in order for the application to mature into a registration. At this time, the applicant may also request an extension of time within which to prove actual use of the trademark and file a Statement of Use.
