So I the owner of a small commercial painting company listed as a sole proprietorship, and needing some outside funding, should I incorporate or go llc?

As a sole proprietor, you can raise funds by obtaining bank loan, credit cards, small business administration loan or business grants. However, when you create an LLC or corporation you can sell shares or membership interest to investors to raise capital. Should your business be an LLC or Corporation must be discussed with your CPA and attorney based on your personal situation. I suggest scheduling a consultation with your LegalZoom provider law firm.
