How to change the name for our nonprofit?
Jeffrey Lippman ∙ August 9, 2019
This varies on what is your goal and the laws of your State. If you merely wish to change your consumer facing name, you may be able to register for a DBA or Trade Name. If you are seeking to formally change the name of the Incorporation, tax exempt entities typically must follow their By-Laws and the Board must formally approve such a change. Then Amendments must be filed with all government bodies including the IRS, State taxing authority, among others. To discuss fully, you should schedule a consultation with your LegalZoom provider law firm.
