How can I prevent a mortgage company garnishment, they took possession of my home 3 years ago. I got laid off from work and they wouldn't work with me. I hired an attorney to try to lower my house note instead it went from 841 to over 1000 a month?

Debt collection and exemption laws vary from State to State, and it may further be complicated depending on where the Judgment is from and it's history. A Judgment can sometimes be challenged even at the Garnishment stage, but this is rarely easy. It's hard to provide a concrete answer beyond advising you a Bankruptcy would Stay a garnishment. Sometimes, voluntary payment plans can be arranged or some other settlement. I strongly encourage you to discuss this matter with your LegalZoom provider law firm.
