I was one of 3 siblings that inherited the wi family cottage via quit claim deed from our father. He is deceased. When I pass away, does my share go to the other 2 siblings or the person of my choosing?

The answer to your question depends on whether you took title as "joint tenants" or as "tenants in common." I am not licensed to practice in Wisconsin, but as a general legal principal a joint tenancy would normally transfer your share to the surviving owners, whereas in a tenancy in common each owner's share would be distributed through his or her estate.

Issues such as this require a more in depth understanding of the circumstances, and are better suited to a 1-on-1 discussion with an attorney who can review the deed and/or title. Check out LegalZoom’s Legal Plan. Membership provides access to provider attorneys in your state that can discuss with you your specific situation, your rights, applicable State and Federal laws, and remedies or options.
