Some important notes to add. As a business, even if you decide NOT to do anything with social media, it is important to at least claim all of the handles on the various social media outlets. This way, if the time comes and you do decide to get active, YOU will have them (not someone that you do NOT want to have them!). Too many times have I seen exact business names be not available because someone else already claimed it. Also, as a business, it's not likely that 100% of your customer interactions will go 100% smoothly. People will have complaints, people will want to vent, sometimes in a public forum. As a business, take that as an opportunity to turn a bad situation into an incredible customer service story for the world to see. Showing you are human and handle situations properly will ultimately turn into a positive return for you.
