Is there statute of limitations on suing for unpaid rent from the time the person has left the premises? In beginning of September the person renting rooms in my home left me with 6 signed blank checks and a credit card numbers so I could collect unpaid rent. She has since closed her bank account (I didn't even bother with the credit card) and won't return any of my calls or e-mails. Have I passed a time period where I can take her to small claims for these checks and unpaid rent? Unfortunately all I have is an oral contract, a sublease never got signed. I do have e-mails that show a pretty consistent conversation establishing that she did indeed live in my home, as well as mail which still is addressed to her that is mailed to the house. Is there any hope to even try for Small Claims?
