Certification of Cease and Desist

Trademark owners are required by law to stop unauthorized people or companies from using their trademarks. One of the first steps in the process is sending a "cease and desist" letter, which tells the infringing person or company to stop using the trademark. A later step is having that person or company sign a document — called a "certification of cease and desist" — in which they promise to stop using the trademark.
