A new report from Time indicates that "Avatar," director James Cameron's 3D science fiction epic, was the most pirated movie of 2010.

The movie was reportedly downloaded approximately 16,580,000 times this year from websites supporting BitTorrent, a popular peer-to-peer file-sharing protocol. The "Avatar" tally represents a sharp 33 percent increase over the most commonly downloaded movie last year.

The makers of the controversial documentary "Catfish" have been sued by the record label of an artist whose song is featured in the film, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The lawsuit, which was filed by Threshold Media, claims that "Catfish" is in fact not a documentary and that its makers are thus responsible for damages for the use of a song by Amy Kuney.

A lawsuit centered around the most recent winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture will be allowed to proceed, according to the Associated Press.

The suit was filed by Master Sergeant Jeffrey Sarver, a bomb disposal expert and veteran of the war in Iraq who claims that he received no credit or compensation despite being the inspiration for the main character of "The Hurt Locker," an independent war drama that won the top prize at last year's Oscar ceremony.

Actor Gerard Butler is being sued for trademark infringement over the name of his production company, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Butler, who has starred in the films "300" and "Law Abiding Citizen," and business partner Alan Siegel named their production company Evil Twins, according to the news provider.

According to the lawsuit, filed recently in federal court in Los Angeles, another company called Evil Twin Productions was started by Kristen Armfield and Harri Mark in 1996.
