J.Crew chief Jenna Lyons' husband is seeking substantial monetary compensation as a condition of their divorce.

In a situation illustrating the value of a prenuptial agreement, the divorce between fashion icon Jenna Lyons and her husband Vincent Mazeau has become contentious.

The couple has substantial assets, thanks to Lyons' extremely successful tenure as president and creative director at J.Crew. In 2009, she took home about $4.2 million, the Daily Mail reported. According to the New York Post, Lyons and Mazeau split during the summer, and Mazeau now seeks a substantial settlement, saying he sacrificed his artistic career to stay at home with their son, Beckett, while Lyons climbed the ladder at the clothing company First Lady Michelle Obama has named as her favorite.

Mazeau has asked for a substantial monetary settlement as well as ownership of their luxurious townhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn, according to the Post. The source reported the couple may have worked out a custody arrangement for 5-year-old Beckett.

The troubled family found themselves at the center of a controversy in April, after a photograph of Lyons and Beckett appeared in a J.Crew catalog. In that photo, taken by Mazeau, Lyons was shown painting her son's toenails pink. The shot riled conservative commentators, and Jon Stewart dubbed the ensuing outpouring of media attention "Toemaggedon."
