Regular or Professional LLCs

Certain types of services can only be rendered by a limited liability company if it is a professional limited liability company (PLLC). These are such services as performed by attorneys, physicians, certified public accountants, veterinarians, architects, life insurance agents, chiropractors, and similarly licensed businesses. A professional limited liability company must comply with all the rules of a regular limited liability company. The major difference between the two are:

  • Only persons licensed to practice the profession may be members of a professional limited liability company.
