About

Hi, I’m Mary. I enjoy helping clients solve problems.  I counsel clients in the Commonwealth of Virginia on intellectual property law matters, specifically trademark and copyright law. My practice also includes corporate law, transactional law, and trust and estate law.

Before joining Dunlap Bennet & Ludwig, PLLC, I worked an associate attorney at a boutique intellectual property firm in Richmond, Virginia, where I focused my practice on trademark prosecution, trademark enforcement, and copyright law.

In law school, I served as the executive articles editor on the student editorial board of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal, where I helped prepare a total of twenty articles for publication.

My goal is to help clients by providing clear communication and creative problem-solving.  I volunteered at the National Archives and Records Administration during college, and continue to serve as volunteer in historical document digitization and preservation projects (most recently with the Library of Virginia).

Why I Practice Law
I was inspired to practice law after taking a legal writing course in college.
Fun Fact
I’ve had the opportunity to assist clients during all stages of a trademark’s life-span, from initial preclearance search reports to maintenance filings, and from applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to international extensions of protection via the Madrid Protocol.
