Legalzoom Launches it's First Entrepreneurial Scholarship

by Jane Haskins, Esq., October 2018

The entries are in, and next month LegalZoom will announce the winner of the Emerging Entrepreneur Scholarship Grant. Nearly 200 entrepreneurs submitted applications for the program.

This first-ever grant is part of our mission to help entrepreneurs and small business owners start and grow their businesses. The winner will receive a $5,000 grant for a new business, plus a LegalZoom LLC or corporation startup package that includes preparation and filing of business formation documents. The winner also receives one full year of LegalZoom's prepaid legal services and a year of unlimited access to our downloadable legal forms and contracts. We will feature the winner on our social media channels.

Aspiring entrepreneurs submitted online applications that explained their visions for a new business. The entries spanned a variety of industries, and many of the entrepreneurs described businesses that aim to make a difference in their community or globally -- from reducing plastic waste in the oceans to solving transportation issues to improving access to fresh produce.

The grant competition is more than just a chance to win a prize. It also gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to have their business proposals seen by a panel of superstar judges who are among the top names in the startup world:

The judges are evaluating the applications based on four criteria: viability, scalability, uniqueness and social and local benefits. LegalZoom will announce the winner during the first half of November.
